Literature is a new subject taught to all Secondary One students to promote the love of reading, encourage personal engagement and empathy, and develop skills of critical appreciation of literary texts. Drama is used as a tool to help students become expressive, self-confident and articulate in expressing their appreciation and understanding of the texts. Infusing drama into the curriculum allows for hands-on learning that is meaningful and lasting.
The Drama-in-Curriculum Programme not only helps the Secondary One students discover the joys of learning a new subject, but also become more aware of speaking good English and able to express their feelings, thoughts and ideas about the texts using the English Language.
Our Objectives
To integrate Literature, Drama & English Language into one lesson.
To provide opportunities for improving both language & presentation skills.
To encourage students to think of ways to perform an extract of a play from their literature texts.
To enable pupils to appreciate the language beyond the classroom through an innovative and engaging method to teach literature.
To use drama as a teaching tool to sharpen pupils' linguistic and communication skills, build up their confidence and promote teamwork.
